Private Lessons
ASA 101 (Basic Keelboat)
Prerequisites: None
General Description: Certification to sail a boat up to 20 feet long, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions, in familiar waters without supervision. A preparatory course with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required.
Cost: $495 + tax (for instruction, book and ASA Membership)
Class size is 4-5 students, call for availability.
ASA 103 (Basic Coastal Cruising)
Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat (ASA 101)
General Description: Certification to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary powered sailboat up to 33 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions.
Cost: $495 + tax (for instruction)
Class size is 4-5 students, call for availability.
Brevard County Summer Sailing Program
The Indian River Yacht Club and Boaters Exchange Sailing School in conjunction with Brevard County Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce their summer sailing program, open to children 13-17 and adults 18 and up.
General Description: A sailboat training program focused on teaching interested youth & adults.
Sponsors: Boaters Exchange, a local boat dealer and ASA sailing school, and Indian River Yacht Club, a local not-for-profit promoting sailing and sailing events.
Location: Griffis Landing at Blue Crab Cove - Merritt Island (SR 520 at Indian River)
Training Boat: Geary 18, an 18 foot sailing keelboat sloop with 22" draft
Curriculum: 2 programs, each featuring 4 days of training: Monday - Thursday 9AM-1PM and Saturdays 9AM-1PM (4 consecutive)
Cost: $120 per student (includes book and daily snack)
Start Date: Monday, June 6th 2011 + additional classes TBD
